This one took almost a year and a half to develop. We started with the music of Kraftwerk and took our time after losing our original performance space. Between a preview of selections from the piece at Oktoberfest in Saxapahaw, NC, in 2014 and the final performance at Swain Hall at UNC-Chapel Hill we went through many iterations of cast and content.
Ultimately we wound up with an elliptical, relentless story of an East German family living in an apartment that is under scrutiny by the State. It featured a stunning set designed by Miyuki Su (realized by Jeff Alguire) and mesmerizing layers of projection (due to sereno scrim instead of walls) by Alex Maness that ranged from nostalgia to the epitome of uptight oppression.
